Get Involved

CONTACT SENATORS BELOW

The images of those you see above are just a few of the many tragic victims of Sanctioned Suicide and their role in the needless deaths of the victims that they target and encourage to end their lives.

We need your help to bring this to the attention of our government leaders so that they can enact legislation to make this illegal.  Below we have added the key players in our effort to stop Sanctioned Suicide.  By getting involved, you will be helping to save the lives of these people and give them a chance at overcoming their issues and leading productive and happy lives.

To help you, we have a form letter below that you can copy and paste into an email when you contact these officials.  Feel free to add to it as you see fit.  If we can get enough people involved and shine a light on the activities and tragedies of Sanctioned Suicide, we can have them held accountable for the deaths they encouraged and have the site taken down.

The Form Letter To Send

Dear Senator _____________,

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. s. 230) is providing legal protection for an Internet website that is teaching American children and Americans with Autism Spectrum Disorders how to end their own lives. This is happening right now and it MUST be stopped.

That website is SanctionedSuicide. com. The site is providing forum-based coaching, advice, and detailed instructions about how to commit suicide. A recent survey of site members conducted by the site operators themselves clearly shows a significant percentage of the members are minors and persons identifying as Autistic. The site operators do not care. They provide suicide advising and information to minors and individuals who appear clearly unable to make informed self-care choices from a position of competency and maturity.

This is leading directly to the loss of lives. The stories are many already and tragically, growing weekly.

Under the current law, a website like SanctionedSuicide. com is given immunity from any liability for content created by its users. Big tech companies operating services that support the site hide behind Section 230, refusing to take action against the site simply because 230 allows them to avoid the problem.

In the physical world, the activities taking place on SanctionedSuicide. com would be a crime. On the American Internet, it’s just business as usual. Does this seem acceptable to you?

This is not a partisan issue. This is threatening the lives of not only our children, but many others. I implore you to take action to strike down or otherwise change Section 230 such that criminals and those that support them can be held accountable for their actions online just as they would be in the real world.

I trust that as my elected representative in the Senate, you will act to protect my children, your children, and all Americans from the dangerous conditions created by this misguided law.

Thank you for your attention, and your action. I am counting on you to do the right thing.

Sincerely yours,
